Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to India: Delhi

Upon arrival at the airport in Delhi, you will be met by our representative, assisted through formalities and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2Delhi

After breakfast, discover Delhi in all its majesty. Start the day with a Cycle rickshaw ride through Old Delhi. Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. Also visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful market of the old city. Continue to New Delhi. You will visit two monuments from Delhi\’s past – Humayun\’s Tomb and Qutub Minar. Your drive takes you along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House and the Presidential residence. Return to your hotel for overnight. (BD)

Day 3Delhi / Jaipur

This morning travel to Jaipur, the famed Pink City of India. The entire city was painted its unique pink color in 1876 to celebrate the visiting Prince of Wales. Later, enjoy a visit at a Jewelry Shop and a local market. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 4Jaipur

After breakfast, visit the Amber Fort. Ascend the hill to the fort by jeep or on the back of an elephant if available and admire views of Jaipur’s original city walls and the Maotha Lake below. Continue to visit a local Rajasthan textile and handicrafts market. In the afternoon, tour Jaipur, including visits to the observatory of Maharaja Jaisingh, the Palace of Winds and the museum at the Maharaja City Palace. Return to your hotel for overnight. (BD)

Day 5Jaipur / Agra

Today, travel to the medieval city of Agra. En route, visit Fatehpur Sikri – the deserted red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. Enjoy some time of leisure in Agra. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 6Agra

This morning, visit the Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his beloved Queen Mumtaj Mahal. In the afternoon, visit the Agra Fort, begun by Emperor Akbar the Great in the 16th century. Continue to see the beautifully embellished mausoleum of Itimad- Ud-Daulah (the Lord Treasurer), final resting place of vizier Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Return to your hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 7Agra / Jhansi / Khajuraho

After breakfast, board your train for your journey to Jhansi. Upon arrival in Jhansi, drive to Khajuraho. En route, visit Orchha. Though little more than a village today, stepping back in time, into Orchha’s fortress and palaces is an enjoyable experience. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 8 Khajuraho / Varanasi

After breakfast, visit the Chandela Temple Complex. The tour of Khajuraho this morning concentrates on the famous erotic temples, which represent some of the finest examples of temple architecture in Northern India. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Day 9Varanasi

In the morning, witness dawn on the Ganges, a time when the Ghats along the riverbanks hum with activity, as Hindu devotees perform their ablutions in the river or offer prayers to the rising sun. A boat ride through this serene setting offers you the perfect panoramic vantage for this extraordinary experience. Visit the Bharat Mata Temple, with its marble relief map of an undivided India, the Durga Temple, the exterior of the golden-spire temple of Vishwanath and Benaras Hindu University. Later, drive to the city of Sarnath, the ancient deer park where Guatama Buddha gave his first divine sermon of Dharma, and view the ruins, the stupa, and the Buddhist Temple. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 10Varanasi / Delhi / En Route

Enjoy some time of leisure. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi for your international flight. (B)
