Itinerary

Day 1 Thursday En Route

Flight from Toronto to Cairo.

Day 2 FridayCairo

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 3 SaturdayCairo

After breakfast, start your sightseeing tour by visiting Saqqara where the famous Unas Pyramid is located, King Zoser Step Pyramid, Mastaba Tomb of TI, Tomb of Ptahotep. In the afternoon, you will visit the great Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Nearby is the mysterious Sphinx, a colossal lion with a pharaoh’s head. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 4 SundayCairo

Enjoy a day at leisure in Cairo. Optional tours available. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 5 MondayCairo / Bahariya

After breakfast start by driving from Cairo to Bahariya oasis, a 370 km trip. Upon reaching Bahariya, start your city tour and have lunch. In the afternoon, visit the temple of Alexander the great, tombs of the Nobles and the English mountain. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (BLD)

Day 6 TuesdayBahariya / White Desert

After breakfast drive to the black desert and the dune area. Stop to climb the 50 meter dune. En route to Farafra, visit the crystal mountain, the area of wonders with the desert roses and the arch. Moving on head to the White Desert and start exploring the formations and naturally carved sculptors that resemble both human and animal faces. Dinner and overnight at your camp under a canopy of stars (option to stay in a hotel in lieu of a camp is available). (BLD)

Day 7 WednesdayWhite Desert / Farafra / Dakhla

Depart for Farafra oasis (40 km) by road to visit the city, bathe in the hot spring, and visit the museum of Badr “the local artist.” Continue to Dakhla oasis (280 km). Upon reaching Dakhla, visit the Old Covered City with its oil press, school, courthouse and dwelling chambers Muzzawaka & Deir El Hagar. Enjoy lunch and time at leisure before dinner. Overnight at your hotel. (BLD)

Day 8 ThursdayDakhla / Kharga

Leaving Dakhla behind, head to Kharga (190 km), where you will check in to your hotel. In Kharga, visit El Bagawat Cemetery, The Temple of Nadura, Kharga Museum and the temple of Hibis. Overnight at your hotel in Kharga. (BLD)

Day 9 FridayKharga / Luxor

After breakfast drive from Kharga oasis to reach Luxor by noon. The town of Luxor is located in Upper Egypt and lies on the right bank of the Nile. Enjoy some time at leisure in this city rich with history and culture and overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 10 SaturdayLuxor / Nile Cruise

After breakfast, transfer to your Nile cruise for embarkation. In the afternoon, visit the great Luxor Temple. Continue to the magnificent Karnak Temple of Amun with its famous Hypostyle Hall, the Statue of Ramses II, and the Obelisk of Queen Hatsheput. Even in the time of the Pharaohs, this great temple was regarded as the finest creation abounding in architectural accomplishments. Overnight in Luxor aboard your cruise. (BLD)

Day 11 SundayNile Cruise: Luxor

After breakfast, begin sightseeing in Luxor including the West Bank, where some of the richest treasures in the world are located such as the Tomb of Tut Ankh Amun in the Valley of the Kings. Visit some of these tombs. Continue to visit Hatsheput’s Temple. The temple was built at the beginning of the New Kingdom, in the reign of Queen Hatshepsut. Also see the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight in Luxor aboard your cruise. (BLD)

Day 12 MondayNile Cruise: Edfu / Kom Ombo / Aswan

Visit the Horus Temple of Edfu, one of the three beautiful temples of the Ptolemaic Period and almost perfectly preserved. Sail to Kom Ombo. The two main gods of Kom Ombo were the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Haroeris. The complex itself was built in a unified plan accommodating two temples in a single building: the right side belonging to Sobek and the left to Haroeris. Visit the complex, which offers beautiful murals and reliefs. Sail to Aswan and overnight on your cruise. (BLD)

Day 13 TuesdayNile Cruise: Aswan

In Aswan, the Nile parts into many arms divided by immense granite rocks and islands, in particular the island of Elephantine. There is only a small area of fertile land producing what are considered the finest dates in all of Egypt. In the morning, you will visit the High Dam and the Philae Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Isis, among other deities. In the afternoon, you will sail on an Egyptian felucca to view the Elephantine Island, the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener Island and the Aga Khan Mausoleum. Overnight in Aswan aboard your Nile cruise. (BLD)

Day 14 WednesdayNile Cruise: Aswan / Kom Ombo / Edfu

Today you may like to take the optional excursion touring the famous temple of Abu Simbel or you can explore Aswan on your own. In the afternoon, sail to Kom Ombo and Edfu for overnight. (BLD)

** If you would like to shorten the cruise to 4 nights, you will disembark on this day and continue your trip to Hurghada by domestic flight **

Day 15 ThursdayNile Cruise: Esna / Luxor

In the morning sail to Esna to enjoy time at leisure. Continue to Luxor and overnight. (BLD)

Day 16 FridayNile Cruise: Luxor

Enjoy a day at leisure exploring Luxor on your own. Overnight aboard your cruise. (BLD)

Day 17 SaturdayNile Cruise / Luxor / Hurghada

In the morning, disembark and transfer by road from Luxor to Hurghada. Enjoy some time at leisure relaxing on the Red Sea. Overnight at your resort. (B)

Day 18 SundayHurghada

Enjoy a day of leisure on the Red Sea, enjoy the many water sports or take one of our optional desert safari excursions. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 19 MondayHurghada

Enjoy a day of leisure along the Red Sea. You may like to partake in some of the water or desert activities available. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 20 TuesdayHurghada

Enjoy a final day of leisure along the Red Sea. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 21 WednesdayHurghada / En Route

Morning hotel check-out. Day at leisure on the Red Sea. In the evening, say goodbye to Egypt and transfer to the airport for your return flight to Toronto with a connection. (B)
