Itinerary

Day 1 En Route

Flight from Toronto to Cairo.

Day 2Cairo

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 3Cairo

After breakfast, start your sightseeing tour by visiting Saqqara where the famous Unas Pyramid is located, King Zoser Step Pyramid, Mastaba Tomb of TI, Tomb of Ptahotep. In the afternoon, you will visit the great Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Nearby is the mysterious Sphinx, a colossal lion with a pharaoh’s head. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 4Cairo / Old Cairo / Cairo

After breakfast, visit the Egyptian Museum, which houses a magnificent collection of Pharaonic antiquities, especially the golden treasures of Tut Ankh Amun. Proceed to Old Cairo to visit Mohamed Ali Mosque and the Cairo Citadel. Continue to the Hanging “Moallaqa” Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest Jewish synagogue in Egypt. For those who wish to browse and shop, your tour will stop at the Khan El Khalili Bazaar displaying and selling all types of oriental goods. Return to your hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 5Cairo / Luxor / Dahabiya

After breakfast, transfer to Cairo airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, transfer to your dahabiya – your sailing home on the Nile for the next 7 nights. Relaxing in the privacy of your inviting boat and enjoying modern amenities, discover Upper Egypt’s exceptional sites at the rhythm of the wind. While sailing and mooring at secluded island and Nile shores, you may have the opportunity to walk through fields, encounter Egyptian farmers, or have a meal in a pastoral landscape. On your first day, visit the necropolis of the West Bank including Valley of Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. Overnight on the Nile banks of Luxor. (BLD)

Day 6Dahabiya: Luxor / Esna

After breakfast, on the East Bank where the sun rises, visit the Temple of Amon-Ra at Karnak and the Temple of Luxor. This afternoon your Dahabiya sails to Esna. At ease on the deck, you will watch a panorama that has hardly changed from the time of Ancient Egyptians and where now rural Egyptians still live. Overnight on the Nile banks in Esna. (BLD)

Day 7Dahabiya: Esna

Enjoy a day at leisure in Esna or take an optional tour of the Temple of Khnum, the ram-headed god. Your Dahabiya will be moored overnight in Esna. (BLD)

Day 8Dahabiya: Edfu

After breakfast, sail to Edfu where you will visit the Temple of Horus, the falcon-god, considered the best-preserved temple in Ancient Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak. Overnight moored beside a Nile island. (BLD)

Day 9 FridayDahabiya: Djebel Sisileh / Kom Ombo

Departure for Djebel Silsileh where the Nile flows between two mountains. Here you will be among the very few, as the larger vessel can only pass in the distance. Sail to Kom Ombo where you will visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Sobek & Haroeries. Your Dahabiya will moor overnight alongside a Nile island. (BLD)

Day 10Dahabiya: Aswan

A leisurely day sailing to Aswan mesmerized by enchanting and contrasting sceneries with the desert reaching the edges of the western shores while palms and vast spreads of greenery cover the East bank; All the while taking pleasure ion the sundeck, sipping cocktails or retreating to the tranquil indoor library. The Dahabiya will moor overnight in Aswan. (BLD)

Day 11Dahabiya: Aswan

Today in this city embraced by the Aga Khan and where Lord Kitcheners created his fertile and exotic botanical garden, you will visit the Aswan High Dam, the Old Dam, and the Temple of Philae dedicated to the Goddess Isis which was rescued from the waters of Lake Nasser. Overnight in Aswan. (BLD)

Day 12Dahabiya / Aswan / Cairo

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 13Cairo / En Route

Morning hotel check-out. Day at leisure in Cairo. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Toronto. (B)

Day 14En Route

Say goodbye to Egypt and board your early morning flight home.
